Frequently Asked Questions

The thought of dental care makes me nervous. Can you help?

Of course! Dental-related anxiety is a serious problem that prevents countless people from pursuing the necessary treatment that they (and their smile) deserve. Here in Asheville, NC, Dr. John White offers both nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”) and IV sedation to help patients feel at ease during treatment.

Will I be safe while undergoing sedation dentistry at your practice?

As one of only a small number of dentists in the Western North Carolina area who have been certified by the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners to provide parenteral sedation, patients can feel confident trusting Dr. White with their sedation needs. He will work with you to determine the ideal sedation method for your unique circumstances and then closely monitor you throughout your procedure to ensure a safe and effective experience.

Which tooth replacement option is right for me?

Dr. White offers several reconstructive treatment options to patients who are missing one or more natural teeth. Dental implants are often the ideal solution because of their valuable health and aesthetic benefits – unlike other like-minded services, they’re designed to seamlessly replicate the complete structure of your original tooth for optimal results. However, the commitment and cost involved can be too much of a hurdle for some patients. In these cases, dental bridges and traditional dentures (as well as implant-retained versions) are available, each providing their own unique advantages.

The simple answer to this question is that no one tooth replacement option is the perfect choice for every single patient who walks through our door. Our team will work with you to determine your current level of oral health and which service is a good fit for your circumstances.

Will I need to see another doctor if I want dental implants?

No. While many practices refer patients out for the surgical placement of their implants, Dr. White has the training and experience needed to perform the procedure right here in-office, which means you’ll go from implant consultation to placement to restoration in one, familiar location and with the same team you’ve come to know and trust. We look forward to giving you back a strong, complete smile you can feel proud of!

Is it true that a dentist can help treat my sleep apnea?

Yes! If you’ve been diagnosed with mild to moderate sleep apnea by your general doctor or a sleep specialist, oral appliance therapy from Dr. White may be able to effectively treat your condition. These customized mouthpieces work by comfortably readjusting the resting position of your jaw and/or tongue, allowing air to flow freely to your lungs and virtually eliminating interruptions to your deep sleep.

Can you send me your new patient forms?

Actually, patients can find all the paperwork they’ll need on our new patients page! Through those links, you can download the necessary forms, print them out, and complete them in the comfort of your own home whenever you have the time. Then, all you have to do is bring them with you to our office. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Do you take my insurance?

We accept all insurance plans, and our team will happily file the necessary paperwork on your behalf so that you can receive the benefits you’re entitled to. To learn more, please visit our new patients page.
