The brief descriptions below are designed to familiarize you with our staff’s training, professional credentials and experience.
John White D.D.S.
Dr. White is a native of Asheville, and is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Graduating in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Dr. White worked as a researcher in the pharmaceutical industry, and then returned to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1991, completing his doctorate in Dentistry in 1995.
Upon receiving his doctorate, Dr. White completed a two-year post-doctoral Residency program at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospitals and the Bowman Gray School of Medicine. During his residency, Dr. White received extensive training in sedation dentistry. In addition, he completed a separate year-long externship in the placement and restoration of several different types and brands of dental implants with the Midwest Implant Institute of Columbus, Ohio.
Dr. White has practiced dentistry since 1998 in his dental practice in South Asheville. Dr. White is one of a few dentists in Western North Carolina to be certified by the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners to provide parenteral sedation for dental procedures.
Dr. White is a member of several professional associations including the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. Dr. White has attained Fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry, signifying a commitment to continuing dental education, and most recently, he was awarded Fellowship status in the Academy of Dentistry International. Fellowship in the Academy of Dentistry International is an honor and is by invitation only to those dentists who have distinguished themselves in the profession of Dentistry. Dr. White has served on the Board of Directors of the Dental Alumni Association of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry, and was President of the Board of Directors of the Dental Alumni Association from 2003 to 2004.
Dr. White and his wife Patty live here in the Arden area and have three children. They spend family times together enjoying the mountains of Western North Carolina.
